農業・食コミュニケーターとして、農業関連事業サポートや技術や制度のリサーチ、農業専門誌・ウェブメディアへの執筆を行う。食の6次産業化プロデューサーレベル3認定。日本政策金融公庫農業経営アドバイザー試験合格。
オランダVan Hall Larenstein応用科学大学大学院にて、開発学（農村部におけるイノベーション・コミュニケーション専攻）修士卒業。現在、大学院環境学研究科博士後期課程在学中。
5年間のオランダ在住中に、規模や栽培方法を問わず、各生産者がそれぞれが最適なアプローチを模索しながら環境負荷の低減に努めている様子が印象的であった。
As an agriculture and food communicator, Mariko Kihira provides informational services for agriculture-related businesses, researches technologies and systems, and writes for publishers that make agricultural magazines and web media. Certified as a Level 3 producer of syoku no 6-ji sangyo. Passed the Agricultural Management Advisor Examination of the Japan Finance Corporation.
Graduated from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands, with a Master of Science degree in Development Studies (specializing in Innovation and Communication in Rural Areas). Currently enrolled in the doctoral program of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies.
During her five-year stay in the Netherlands, she was impressed by how each producer persuaded to reduce environmental impact while seeking the best approach regardless of scale or cultivation method.
